sweaters for all.

today is the birthday of this man:

(do i have have an unhealthy predisposition to love oldmen+sweaters?)
yes.

(is this man potentially to blame?)
i think so.

and, dear pittsburgh has declared today "sweater day"...in his honor. http://kdka.com/local/Fred.Rogers.sweater.2.963813.html
isn't that just the sweetest thing...

*and yes. i am currently wearing a sweater. i should go home and see if they still play reruns of his show. (but, then again- it IS friday night...and i'm not sure where that would fall on the scale of ultimate-lameness.)

It makes me unbelievably happy to know that you're gardening.

haha okay here is some advice.

One of the best ways to learn is to find someone who has a nice garden and then ask them what they are doing. Regions of the country vary so much it would help if you could just ask them what worked for them. That said here are two suggestions.

Plant sweet potatoes. They are easy to grow, taste good, and will fix nitrogen in the soil making everything grow better in the future.

Plant onions. They are easy to grow and will make your meals tasty.

Above all remember not to bemoan a dead plant -- a dead plant is merely new compost in the making.

Thanks... the cake was fun to make and I really just do it because it is fun... I would love love love to open up a cake and tea shop some day.

ok... so mr. rogers always kinda scared me. I didn't grow up watching him and saw him for the first time when I was 15 and was just scared... sorry. I just felt the need to confess.

Oh and I went on a road trip this weekend and wanted to find all these funny things to take pictures of because I so enjoy looking at all the funny pictures on your site... but every time I saw something funny i was too late with the camera... shoot! But I thought of you...
